Access Holdings Plc has announced the retirement of Olanrewaju Bamisebi, its Executive Director responsible for Information Technology and Digitalisation, following the expiration of his term contract.
The retirement took effect on September 30, 2026, according to a regulatory disclosure issued by the financial services group and signed by its Group Company Secretary, Sunday Ekwochi, on Friday, October 9.
The company explained that the development would bring its executive leadership structure into line with the Central Bank of Nigeria’s (CBN) Corporate Governance Guidelines for Financial Holding Companies.
Under the guidelines, a financial holding company is generally expected to have its Managing Director or Chief Executive Officer as its sole executive director. An additional executive director serving as Chief Financial Officer may be permitted in exceptional circumstances, subject to CBN approval.
Access Holdings said its board appreciated Bamisebi’s service and contributions to the organisation, particularly his role in advancing digital transformation and supporting the growth of the Access Group during his tenure.
The company also wished him success in his future endeavours, acknowledging the work he carried out as part of its technology leadership.
Bamisebi brought more than two decades of experience in information technology and digitalisation to the role. His responsibilities included overseeing the group’s digital strategy across its international operations, supporting technology-driven services and helping strengthen its digital capabilities.
His professional experience spans areas such as mobile money, payment gateways, telecommunications and financial technology integration, as well as digital marketplaces. He has also participated in technology and industry advisory boards and supported initiatives promoting talent development in science, technology, machine learning and artificial intelligence.
The retirement comes as financial institutions continue to invest in digital banking, payment systems, cybersecurity and technology infrastructure to serve customers across increasingly digital markets.
For Access Holdings, maintaining an effective governance structure while sustaining its digital transformation agenda will remain important as it manages operations across multiple markets.
The company has not indicated in the cited retirement announcement who will take over Bamisebi’s responsibilities. Any further leadership or succession arrangements would therefore need to be confirmed through an official disclosure.
