Samkwar, known as the Mishkaham Bokkos, was reportedly attacked on Monday night, October 12, 2026. He was taken to a hospital in Daffo for emergency treatment before being referred to another medical facility, where he died on Wednesday, October 14.

A youth leader in the community, Malo Stephen, told journalists that the assailants stormed the monarch’s residence and fired shots before entering the compound and attacking him. Stephen said the traditional ruler sustained gunshot wounds and later died despite efforts to save his life.

The attackers were described by community sources as suspected Fulani militias. However, their identities have not been independently established, and the circumstances of the attack have yet to be publicly clarified by security authorities.

Stephen also disclosed that the monarch’s son had reportedly been abducted before the incident but regained his freedom on Sunday, shortly before the attack on his father.

Expressing concern over the recurring violence in Bokkos, the youth leader said residents were increasingly worried about their safety, adding that repeated attacks and killings had created an atmosphere of fear across communities in the local government area. He called on security agencies to strengthen their response and take urgent steps to protect residents.

Kefas Mallai, chairman of the Community Peace Observers in Bokkos, also confirmed the killing and expressed concern over the deteriorating security situation.

Mallai further reported a separate attack involving three people travelling on a motorcycle along a road connecting communities in the area. According to the account, two of the travellers were killed while the third sustained injuries.

The reported incidents have renewed concerns about the safety of residents and traditional institutions in Bokkos, where community leaders say recurring attacks are placing growing pressure on local communities.
