The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency has contained a fire outbreak at Navy House, located at 41 Cameroon Road in Ikoyi, Lagos State.

The incident occurred on Saturday, October 3, 2026, after LASEMA’s Shark Team from the Lekki Base received an emergency call at about 5:12pm.

According to the agency, its responders arrived at the location within the estimated 20-minute response period and found the top floor of the storey building engulfed in flames.

LASEMA said an initial assessment at the scene indicated that a power surge may have triggered the fire. The finding was described as preliminary, meaning further assessment could be required to establish the circumstances surrounding the outbreak.

Emergency responders immediately activated the agency’s emergency response plan and worked alongside other agencies to prevent the fire from spreading.

The operation involved the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, Federal Fire Service, Navy Dockyards Limited, the Nigerian Navy and the Nigeria Police Force.

LASEMA said the coordinated response successfully restricted the fire to the affected area and prevented it from extending to other floors of the building or neighbouring structures.

The agency also confirmed that no death or injury was recorded in connection with the incident.

After the flames were brought under control, emergency personnel carried out a risk assessment to identify possible hazards before beginning dampening-down operations. The exercise was intended to reduce the possibility of the fire reigniting.

LASEMA said the fire was completely extinguished at about 8:33pm, after which the dampening-down exercise was concluded and the responding Shark Team returned to its base.

The agency advised residents to remain alert to potential fire and other emergencies and encouraged members of the public to report incidents promptly through Lagos emergency numbers 767 and 112.

The incident highlights the importance of coordinated emergency response, particularly in densely built areas where a fire can potentially affect adjoining structures.
