The agenda includes global economic prospects, financial stability, development financing, poverty reduction, investment and strategies for promoting sustainable growth and job creation. The meetings, scheduled for October 12 to 18, bring together finance ministers, central bank governors, economic policymakers, development partners and private-sector representatives from across the world to discuss major economic and development issues.
Nigeria’s participation comes as the Federal Government continues efforts to strengthen macroeconomic stability, attract foreign investment and ensure that economic reforms translate into increased productive activity, business expansion and employment opportunities.
During the week-long meetings, Oyedele is expected to engage with international financial institutions, investors and multilateral development partners on issues relevant to Nigeria’s economic priorities. The engagements are also expected to provide opportunities for the country to discuss investment prospects and strengthen cooperation with international partners.
The annual meetings provide a platform for participating countries to exchange policy ideas, discuss shared economic challenges and explore approaches to financing development.
The Ministry of Finance is expected to provide updates on the minister’s engagements and any outcomes of Nigeria’s bilateral discussions as the meetings progress.
