Residents and businesses in several parts of Abeokuta, Ogun State, are experiencing a power outage after the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) reported a technical fault on two of its electricity feeders.

The affected infrastructure includes the Owode Line 1 and Imeko 33kV feeders, according to an outage notification issued by IBEDC’s Ogun Region on Wednesday, October 7, 2026.

The disruption is affecting a number of communities and establishments across Abeokuta and surrounding areas.

Among the locations listed by IBEDC are MAPOLY, Lafenwa, Olomore, Adehun, Rounder, Sabo, Alamala Barracks, Adigbe, Ita Eko, Panseke, Ogun-Osun River Basin and their environs.

Several hotels, businesses and other establishments were also included in the affected areas, including Slab Petrol Station, B & Y Hotel, White House Hotel, Rock Face Hotel, Kings Hotel, Mafiz Royal Hotel and Upright Hotel.

Other communities named in the notice include Abule Sikiru, Orelope, Ifetedo, Alamutu, Akinolugbade, Kolobo, Oriyanrin, Agbena, Agejo, Saraki, Kuforiji and Soyoye.

IBEDC said it was monitoring the situation with its partners as efforts continue to address the fault and restore electricity supply to affected customers.

The company also apologised to customers for the disruption and said further updates would be provided as the situation develops.

The latest outage comes amid wider power-supply challenges affecting parts of Ogun State. IBEDC had also recently announced a load restriction on its Ota/Papa/Abeokuta 132kV network, which reduced the electricity available to some 33kV feeders serving communities across the state.

IBEDC operates electricity distribution networks across Oyo, Ogun, Osun, Kwara and parts of Niger, Ekiti and Kogi states.

Customers in the affected Abeokuta areas are now awaiting restoration of supply as IBEDC works with relevant partners to resolve the technical problem.
