Yilwatda made the prediction on Saturday, October 17, 2026, during the commissioning of the Arewa for Asiwaju (A4A) campaign secretariat in Abuja. He cited infrastructure projects, education programmes, healthcare initiatives and other policies of the Tinubu administration as reasons he believes voters in the region should support the president.

The APC chairman argued that the administration had made investments across northern states, pointing to major road projects, the Ajaokuta-Kaduna-Kano gas pipeline, irrigation infrastructure, railway development and the Nigerian Education Loan Fund.

He also praised Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima for what he described as an inclusive approach to governance, saying the administration had sought to accommodate Nigerians across religious and ethnic backgrounds.

Yilwatda urged political leaders and supporters to strengthen grassroots mobilisation, arguing that securing strong support in their home communities and polling units could help the APC achieve its electoral target in the North.

He highlighted several road projects, including the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano corridor and routes linking communities across the North-East and North-West. He said the scale of infrastructure development under the current administration should be considered when voters assess its performance.

The APC chairman also pointed to healthcare interventions, including health facilities and medical services for pregnant women, as examples of programmes he said could improve living conditions in northern communities.

However, Yilwatda’s forecast of more than 70 per cent of northern votes remains a political prediction rather than an established outcome. The eventual result will depend on voter turnout, candidates, campaign performance and the decisions of eligible voters across the region.

Speaking at the event, former Kebbi State Governor and A4A Director-General Muhammad Badaru Abubakar said the Tinubu administration’s record in infrastructure, education, social investment and security provided grounds for seeking a second term.

Badaru said the movement would mobilise support across northern states through governors, legislators, traditional institutions, young people and other community stakeholders. He added that the campaign structure would operate from the ward level to local government and state levels.

He also described the A4A headquarters as a three-block complex containing three-storey buildings, offices, a conference room and a situation room intended to coordinate campaign activities.

Badaru said the group planned to engage communities directly, including traders, farmers, students, women and young people, to explain the administration’s policies while listening to residents’ concerns.

Arewa for Asiwaju was established as a political mobilisation platform to support Tinubu’s re-election campaign across the 19 northern states and the Federal Capital Territory. Its activities are expected to complement the APC’s broader election preparations ahead of the 2027 polls.
