According to a statement issued by the Deputy Governor’s Office through its Director of Press, Tope Ariyo, Afuye described Oyebanji as a leader whose faith and commitment to God would continue to influence his approach to governance.
She expressed appreciation to Christian denominations and Muslim communities across Ekiti State for what she described as their strong support for the administration.
The deputy governor said she believed the fresh mandate given to the administration would create an opportunity to improve service delivery and address the needs of residents more effectively.
Afuye also assured the people that job creation and industrialisation would receive priority attention during the administration’s second term, expressing hope that the government’s policies would translate into better economic opportunities for the people.
She praised the Celestial Church of Christ and other faith-based organisations for their contributions and support, particularly during the election period.
Speaking at the gathering, the church’s presiding priest, Ven. Rotimi Ogunbunmi, emphasised the importance of prayer, faith and contentment. He also commended Oyebanji for what he described as the moral values and upbringing expected of a godly leader.
Ogunbunmi attributed the relative peace and orderliness in the state to the leadership of Oyebanji and Afuye, while encouraging continued faith and commitment to godly principles.
Oyebanji and Afuye were re-elected in the June 20, 2026, governorship election and inaugurated for a second four-year term on October 16. The governor has also pledged to focus on job creation, agriculture, skills development and infrastructure during his new tenure.
The administration’s ability to turn these commitments into tangible improvements in employment, economic activity and public services will be an important measure of its performance over the next four years.
