In his first address to officers and personnel under his command, the new zonal police chief stressed the need for discipline, professionalism and dedication to duty. He urged officers to carry out their responsibilities effectively and maintain conduct that would strengthen public trust in the police. Musa took over on Monday, October 12, 2026, following the retirement of his predecessor, AIG Augustine G. Grimah, from the Nigeria Police Force.

Musa also called on residents of the three states to support security efforts by providing credible and actionable information that could assist in preventing and detecting crimes.

According to a statement issued by the Zone 10 Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Abdallah Faruk Ambursa, the AIG pledged to intensify efforts to combat violent crime and improve security throughout the zone.

He further emphasised cooperation with the Armed Forces, other security agencies and relevant stakeholders, describing inter-agency collaboration as essential to addressing security challenges and sustaining peace.

The new zonal commander also promised to maintain an open-door policy, allowing members of the public to raise concerns and engage the police on security-related matters.

Before his latest posting, Musa served as Assistant Inspector-General of Police in charge of Community Policing at the Force Headquarters in Abuja. He previously held several senior positions, including Commissioner of Police in Sokoto State.

Musa joined the Nigeria Police Force on June 10, 1994, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police under Course 18. His career spans more than three decades, with experience in crime management, investigations, intelligence, operations and administration.

Police Zone 10 coordinates policing activities across Sokoto, Kebbi and Zamfara states, with its headquarters located in Sokoto.

Musa’s assumption of office comes as security agencies continue to face the challenge of tackling violent crime and improving safety across the North-West. His administration’s effectiveness will depend on the implementation of security measures, cooperation among agencies and the confidence residents place in law enforcement.
