The National Association of Ajaokuta Students (NAAS) has commended the member representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem, for his interventions in education and youth development.

The commendation was made during an engagement between the federal lawmaker and student representatives, where NAAS, led by its president, Comr. Mudasir, highlighted educational support provided to students in the constituency, including scholarship assistance for undergraduate and postgraduate students.

Abdulraheem, however, urged the students to focus less on celebrating past achievements and more on identifying areas where further intervention is needed.

According to the lawmaker, constructive feedback from students would help his office understand the challenges facing young people and determine where support is most urgently required.

The students subsequently presented several education-related requests, including the return of National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members to Adogo to support teaching in primary and secondary schools.

They also appealed for a bus to assist tertiary students with transportation during resumption periods, continued funding of the SEA Educational Support programme, collaboration on future education initiatives and the establishment of a JAMB Computer-Based Test (CBT) centre in Eganyi.

The students further requested sponsorship for JAMB tutorials to help prospective candidates improve their preparation and performance.

Abdulraheem said his office had already begun compiling comprehensive data on students from Ajaokuta, explaining that an accurate database would help make future educational interventions more targeted.

The lawmaker also praised the students for presenting what he described as thoughtful and issue-based requests, promising to maintain engagement with them and other student organisations.

Abdulraheem has previously established education-focused interventions in the constituency. In 2024, his office announced the SEA Educational Support Grant for eligible undergraduate and postgraduate students from Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, while a six-classroom block was also commissioned at Eganyi Community Comprehensive School.

His education interventions have also included support for school infrastructure. Earlier constituency reports documented classroom projects at Eganyi and Adogo, alongside other development initiatives.

The lawmaker said his efforts would complement programmes being implemented by the Kogi State Government under Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo, including bursary support, as well as relevant Federal Government education initiatives.

He also called for continued support for the APC administration at the federal and state levels.

The meeting ended with NAAS members expressing support for Abdulraheem’s continued representation, citing his education-related interventions and other constituency activities.

Abdulraheem, who was elected to the House of Representatives in 2023 to represent Ajaokuta Federal Constituency, remains the constituency’s federal lawmaker. The National Assembly’s official profile confirms his current representation of Ajaokuta.
