The authority said it was coordinating with the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), Port Health Services, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) and other relevant agencies to strengthen surveillance and protect passengers, airport workers and the wider public.

In a statement issued by its Director of Public Affairs and Consumer Protection, Henry Agbebire, FAAN urged passengers, airlines and other stakeholders to remain calm, vigilant and cooperative with health officials.

The authority said the early detection of the infection and the commencement of contact tracing highlighted the importance of effective surveillance, established public health procedures and cooperation among government agencies.

FAAN also pledged to maintain heightened vigilance across airport operations and align its response with further guidance from public health authorities. It said additional measures would be supported where necessary to safeguard airport users and personnel.

The agency advised the public to rely on information from credible sources and avoid circulating unverified claims that could cause unnecessary alarm.

The development follows the Federal Government’s confirmation of an imported Ebola case involving a woman who recently travelled from Uganda. Health authorities have begun tracing people who may have been exposed to the infection as part of efforts to prevent further transmission.

FAAN reiterated its commitment to working with relevant agencies to protect public health while ensuring that airport operations continue safely.
