Established by the Federal Government under the National Agricultural Development Fund (Establishment) Act 2022, NADF supports agricultural development through financing, research, capacity building and initiatives designed to encourage modern farming practices.
NADF Executive Secretary and Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed A. Ibrahim, said collaboration between financial institutions, technology providers and agricultural enterprises was important to transforming Nigeria’s food system.
He explained that platforms such as Growtech West Africa could help local businesses gain access to new knowledge, equipment and international partnerships, creating opportunities to improve production and develop stronger agricultural markets.
The partnership comes as agricultural businesses increasingly explore technology-driven approaches to address challenges involving irrigation, mechanisation, crop production, livestock, aquaculture and food processing. Improved access to these solutions could help businesses increase efficiency, reduce losses and respond to growing food demand.
Growtech West Africa is an expansion of an international agricultural exhibition platform that connects businesses and professionals across farming technology and related industries. Its Nigerian edition is intended to bring international suppliers and industry experts closer to businesses operating in Nigeria and the wider West African market.
Alan Kelly, Commercial and Strategy Director at InD Group, said Nigeria’s agricultural diversity and position in the region made it an important market for the exhibition. He said the Lagos event would provide a meeting point for businesses seeking technology, expertise and commercial partnerships.
Engin Er, Growtech Portfolio Exhibition Director, said the expansion into West Africa would help connect international agricultural companies with local industry participants. He added that the partnership with NADF was expected to strengthen engagement with stakeholders across Nigeria’s agricultural sector.
The inaugural Growtech West Africa exhibition is scheduled for January 26–28, 2027, at the Landmark Centre in Lagos. The event will cover agricultural technologies and services across seeds and seedlings, plant nutrition, crop protection, irrigation, greenhouse systems, agricultural machinery, precision farming, livestock, poultry, aquaculture and food processing.
Organisers also plan to hold a Food Security and Sustainability Conference, bringing together policymakers, investors, researchers, agribusiness leaders and technology providers to discuss agricultural financing, productivity, climate resilience and the adoption of modern farming solutions.
The exhibition is expected to provide a platform for networking, knowledge exchange and potential business partnerships. However, the extent to which the collaboration improves access to technology and financing for farmers will depend on the practical opportunities and support made available to participants.
