The prosecution alleged that the funds were transferred, on Abdulmajid’s instruction, into a First Bank account belonging to Muazu Abdullahi. The money was reportedly intended for the purchase of IRS Spaghetti from BUA.
The commission said the alleged conduct contravened Section 308 of the Penal Code Law of Kano State and is punishable under Section 309 of the same law.
When the charge was read in court, Abdulmajid pleaded not guilty to the allegation.
Following his plea, prosecution counsel Mustapha Maiwada asked the court to fix a date for trial and order that the defendant be remanded in custody pending further proceedings.
The judge granted the prosecution’s request and ordered the defendant to be remanded in a correctional facility. The case was subsequently adjourned until November 2 for the commencement of the hearing.
The allegations have yet to be established in court, and the defendant is presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
