The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Kehinde Dahunsi, said the accident involved an articulated truck and a motorcycle. He disclosed that the motorcycle rider survived but sustained a fracture in his leg.
According to the FRSC, emergency responders evacuated the deceased to the State Hospital morgue, while the injured motorcyclist was taken to the University College Hospital (UCH), Ibadan, for medical attention.
Eyewitness accounts indicated that the truck had been involved in earlier collisions around Sango before reaching the Agodi Gardens area. The driver was also alleged to have been attempting to escape after the earlier incidents, although the circumstances surrounding the claim had not been independently established.
The crash disrupted traffic around the affected areas, forcing motorists to use alternative routes as emergency responders attended to victims and managed the situation.
The Oyo State NYSC Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Faniyi, said efforts were underway to establish the deceased corps member’s identity and obtain details of her Place of Primary Assignment.
As of the latest available reports, authorities had not publicly established the cause of the initial collisions or confirmed whether the truck driver had been arrested.
The incident has renewed concerns about road safety and the risks posed by heavy-duty vehicles when involved in multiple collisions. Further details are expected as authorities continue to establish the circumstances surrounding the crash.
