Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has led a delegation of All Progressives Congress (APC) leaders and stakeholders from the state in endorsing President Bola Tinubu for a second term ahead of the 2027 presidential election.
The endorsement was announced at a regional APC rally held at Lafia Square in Lafia, Nasarawa State, on Saturday, October 10, 2026. The gathering brought together party leaders, elected officials, government representatives and supporters from the six North-Central states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
According to a statement issued in Jos by Gyang Bere, Director of Press and Public Affairs to the Plateau governor, Mutfwang declared his support for Tinubu on behalf of APC stakeholders from Plateau State.
The governor expressed confidence in the Presidentâs leadership and called for the continuation of the administrationâs Renewed Hope Agenda, arguing that sustained implementation of its policies could support economic growth and development across the country.
Mutfwang highlighted areas including agriculture, infrastructure, job creation and economic expansion as sectors where he believes continued implementation of the administrationâs programmes could deliver further progress.
He also acknowledged the economic difficulties and security challenges confronting Nigerians, urging citizens and political stakeholders to work together towards economic stability, improved security and wider opportunities.
According to the governor, national development requires purposeful leadership, collective responsibility and cooperation among different groups. He described the rally as an opportunity for APC members across the North-Central region to demonstrate unity and reinforce their commitment to the Presidentâs re-election campaign.
The event was attended by First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, APC National Chairman Nentawe Yilwatda and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume, alongside governors, ministers and other party officials. The rally formed part of the North-Central Grassroots Mobilisation Networkâs efforts to build support for Tinubu and Vice-President Kashim Shettima ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The Plateau delegation included Deputy Governor Ngo Josephine Piyo, the stateâs First Lady, Helen Mutfwang, Speaker of the Plateau State House of Assembly Naanlong Daniel and the governorâs Chief of Staff, Jeremiah Satmak.
Other attendees named in the governorâs statement included former Plateau State Governor Joshua Chibi Dariye, former Deputy Governor Pauline Tallen, Special Adviser on Political Affairs Istifanus Mwansat, APC candidates for the 2027 elections and other party leaders and supporters.
The Lafia rally was organised as part of a wider regional mobilisation effort intended to strengthen the APCâs grassroots presence before the next general election. Plans announced ahead of the event also included town hall meetings, community engagement and medical outreach programmes.
Mutfwangâs endorsement adds to the public show of support for Tinubu among APC leaders in the North-Central region. However, the rally represents the position of participating party stakeholders; the outcome of the 2027 election will ultimately be determined by voters.
