Police said Shroff escaped serious injury when the attackers fired at his vehicle as he was leaving a private gathering. His driver and another person were injured during the incident and reportedly received medical attention.

Deputy Commissioner of Police Mohit Garg confirmed that the actor was safe and said police teams had been deployed to investigate the attack.

The shooting occurred on Sunday, October 18, 2026, in the Juhu neighbourhood of Mumbai, a major centre of India’s Hindi-language film industry. Initial reports said the attackers arrived on a motorcycle before fleeing the scene.

The three suspects were subsequently apprehended at Kota railway station in Rajasthan in a joint operation involving police teams. Authorities are investigating their alleged involvement in the shooting and working to establish the circumstances surrounding the attack.

Rajasthan police official Tejaswini Gautam said preliminary questioning indicated that two of the suspects had previous cases recorded against them, one relating to theft and another under India’s Arms Act. Such records do not, by themselves, establish responsibility for the shooting.

Police have not conclusively established the motive behind the incident. Reports of a social media claim of responsibility linked to the Lawrence Bishnoi gang have also emerged, but investigators have not publicly confirmed the group’s involvement.

The case has been transferred to Mumbai’s Crime Branch, and a case has been registered against three unidentified individuals as investigators continue gathering evidence.

Shroff, 36, is known for action films including the Baaghi franchise and War. The incident has raised fresh concerns about security after an attack on a prominent figure in India’s entertainment industry.
