The commitment followed a courtesy visit by the newly appointed Controller of Customs for the North-Western Marine Command, Nnamdi Agwu, to the Controller of Corrections in Kogi State, Hadiza Inna Aminu, at the command’s office in Lokoja.

The visit was aimed at strengthening relations between the two agencies and identifying areas where closer collaboration could improve security operations.

According to a statement issued by the Kogi State Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service, the discussions focused on intelligence sharing and coordinated efforts to address criminal activities, including smuggling and other offences along the state’s waterways and inland routes.

Welcoming Agwu and his delegation, Aminu commended the Customs Service for its contributions to national security and revenue generation. She also assured the delegation of the Correctional Service’s readiness to work with the agency in areas of mutual interest.

Aminu stressed that effective cooperation among security agencies was essential to protecting lives and property and supporting development in Kogi State and Nigeria at large.

In his response, Agwu expressed appreciation for the reception and acknowledged the importance of collaboration among security institutions, noting that no agency could effectively address security challenges in isolation.

He reaffirmed the Customs Service’s commitment to working with the Correctional Service and called for sustained cooperation to strengthen crime prevention and public safety.

The meeting ended with both officials agreeing to maintain communication and deepen their partnership in support of security and stability across Kogi State.

The renewed commitment highlights the importance of inter-agency coordination in addressing security challenges, particularly through timely information exchange and cooperation between institutions with different but complementary responsibilities.
