The commendation came after a visit by a NANS delegation on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, to assess the college’s infrastructure, learning facilities and efforts to improve students’ academic experience.

The delegation was led by the association’s National Financial Secretary, Comrade Alao John Oluwadamilola, alongside its Zonal Coordinator, Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode.

Speaking after the inspection, Alao said the team observed developments in several areas, particularly facilities designed to strengthen practical training for students pursuing health-related programmes.

Among the facilities inspected were the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Centre, Medical Imaging Laboratory, X-ray Imaging Laboratory, Dispensing Opticianry Laboratory and Dental Clinic.

The delegation also visited the renovated college auditorium and library, which, according to the report, holds more than 60,000 books and other educational resources.

Alao said the facilities were among the improvements recorded under Raheem’s administration, noting that students’ representatives should recognise efforts that directly contribute to better teaching, learning and practical experience.

He explained that student organisations had a responsibility to raise concerns when necessary while also acknowledging developments that improve the educational environment.

Raheem was appointed the institution’s first substantive provost in February 2023. Developments attributed to his administration include the renovation of the library, improvements to ICT facilities, procurement of computers and the establishment of medical imaging and opticianry training facilities.

Other reported initiatives include the accreditation of academic programmes and additional infrastructure projects aimed at supporting the college’s academic activities.

Alao, however, urged the management to sustain the progress by providing more modern training equipment, improving students’ welfare and continuing efforts to secure and maintain programme accreditation.

He stressed that institutional development should ultimately be measured by the quality of education students receive, the effectiveness of their practical training, their welfare and the opportunities available to them after graduation.

The NANS delegation also thanked the college management for receiving its members during the inspection.

During the visit, Alao requested a bus for the Students’ Union to facilitate its activities. Raheem acknowledged the request and reportedly promised to provide one.

The visit provided an opportunity for the student representatives to assess the institution’s facilities and draw attention to areas requiring continued investment to improve students’ academic experience.
