Ododo made the commitment in Ankpa during activities marking the fifth anniversary of the ascension of the Ejeh of Ankpa, Alhaji Abubakar Yakubu II, to the throne.

The governor described traditional institutions as important partners in governance, noting that their close relationship with local communities places them in a strong position to understand the needs of residents and contribute to resolving challenges at the grassroots.

He commended the Ejeh of Ankpa for his leadership over the past five years and urged him to sustain efforts to promote unity, peaceful coexistence and development among communities under his traditional authority.

Ododo also called on traditional rulers, community leaders and residents to strengthen cooperation with security agencies as part of efforts to address insecurity and protect lives and property.

He emphasised that lasting peace requires coordinated efforts by government, traditional institutions and security agencies, adding that a secure environment is essential for economic activities and sustainable development.

The governor further urged traditional rulers to continue serving as a link between the government and the people by communicating community concerns and supporting development programmes in key sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture and infrastructure.

According to him, sustained engagement with communities would help ensure that government policies and projects reflect the needs and aspirations of residents across the state.

The anniversary celebration provided an opportunity to recognise the Ejeh’s years on the throne and highlight the role traditional institutions can play in strengthening community relations and supporting development.

Ododo reiterated that his administration would continue to engage traditional rulers as stakeholders in its efforts to maintain stability, improve security and promote inclusive development throughout Kogi State.
